Well, some of us don't want some of the "services" the State provides at all, and also have no desire to see "services" remain at the same level, but in fact, would like to see them cut across the board, and in some cases, eliminated entirely. The State government should be providing a court system and a system of law enforcement, roads, maybe even a militia, and keeping its nose out of everything else.gdanaher wrote:It makes perfect sense to me that citizens of all political perspectives, who value their forefathers and their values, can respect and honor individual rights. What I find troubling is the hypocrisy present amongst some 'conservative' groups who legislate to limit individual rights. Voter ID comes to mind. The state never prosecuted anyone for voter fraud in recent history yet it became a major issue. Like passing a law making it illegal for the sky to fall. Or, listening to televison campaign ads where the guy promises to lower property taxes in Texas. The state legislature's inability to raise state taxes and its proclivity for passing the bills on to the counties and cities resulted in increased property taxes. If elected, he promises not to raise state taxes but will lower property taxes? Just how do you go about doing that and continue to provide the same level of services?pops1982 wrote: To me it doesn't seem logical to both support obama and support any kind of individual freedoms. Kind of like trying to mix oil and water. Just sayin.
Don't interpret this as trying to prevent YOU from helping out the State government......feel free to send them a big check.
