Re: Admiral McRaven's NPR Interview
goinincircles, no problem. I have to periodically refresh myself. Ruark, SB11 technically did redefine "campus" as "all land or buildings owned or leased..." so I guess I'm not seeing the trouble. Is it just the ignorance that people are demonstrating in not knowing that guns hav...

Re: Admiral McRaven's NPR Interview
I was under the impression, perhaps incorrectly, that only sporting events where they are paid to play are off limits. If that's the case, college games should be good to go once campus carry passes....assuming the school doesn't pick that as a " "unique" place that is off limits. PC...

Re: SB11 & HB910 This week....
So how did SB11 end up impacting "health-related institutions of higher education?" I recall an amendment originally cutting them out, but the bill passed from the committee doesn't appear to have that language and instead simply refers to 61.003 in the education code. So given that we see...

Yet we'll gladly let all of these "kids" with fragile emotions and delicate minds that are not fully developed join the armed forces, train in the use of our most lethal weapons, and kill and be killed all to protect the freedoms of these same brainless anti-gun sycophants.

Defense Lawyer: Why you do not stop everyone who is driving to check his license while you did stop the defendant to check his CHL? LEO to the Defense Lawyer: 95% of drivers do have valid Driving License while driving. 95% of the people do NOT have a CHL and may want to OC. If the Amendment is NOT ...

Re: SB11 Campus Carry House Floor Debate 5/26/15
I still do not understand why being in a hospital or a health-related university somehow makes an otherwise responsible and licensed individual suddenly less responsible. :headscratch I'm happy that we got this much against all odds, but I'm very frustrated since it appears that all of this anxious ...

Re: SB11 Campus Carry House Floor Debate 5/26/15
Charles, can you clarify for me? If I'm reading amendment 5 correctly, this bill as amended now only applies to the main non-health related universities? So since I work at one of the health-related institutions of higher education listed in 63.002, I'm out of luck? If I'm reading it correctly, and ...

Re: SB11 Campus Carry House Floor Debate 5/26/15
How is this any different than someone sitting and playing mine sweeper or solitaire on their computer for 4 hours in order to burn the clock till quitting time instead of working??? I guess the biggest difference is that you, me, and other hard-working Texas are footing the bill for these...well......

Re: SB11 Campus Carry House Floor Debate 5/26/15
Is it possible to kill a bill by simply amending it to death with umpteen zillion amendments? Seems like there would be a workaround - like the speaker could stand up and say "OK, just vote on it the way it is, yea or nay." SB19 isn't going to be killed. They're just running the clock dow...

Re: Campus Carry -- Where Are We Now?
The chancellor reaches pretty far if he assumes to speak for faculty at large. As a faculty member of a state university, I say phooey to him as I have patiently awaited the time when our legislators would quit sitting on their hands on this matter so that I can defend myself equally well at home, t...

Re: anti-gun mother in law just found out I carry!
My in-laws are pretty good about things. However, my FIL did open his mouth to my wife one time, voicing that he thought it was "silly" for me to carry a firearm. My wife, to her ever-lasting credit, immediately told him to keep his opinions to himself. I actually think his comment is quit...

I have two bullhide belts from AG Custom Gun Leather. I need to order another. Not because they have worn out, but because I need another color. I've been wearing 1 of the 2 I have almost daily for 3 years. GREAT belts. http://agcustomgunleather.com/store/ou-quality-leather-gun-belts/ I do...

She has had in the past, and now has again (thanks to her hubby), defensive spray.
CHLLady, she said it took about 4 minutes for the police to arrive. I imagine that feels like a lifetime in that situation.

Re: A Little Sanity
I get the point of your post. I do. However, the title, "A Little Sanity" implies a bit more than perhaps you wanted to convey. The members of this board are not insane raving lunatics. They are law-abiding responsible adults (for the most part  ). I know you don't think that ever...
