I feel my OC will be limited to maybe trips from the ranch to town for ice, etc. when I'm already wearing my pistol belt. Mostly in the evening time.

I will continue to CC.

My only concern is the OC folks with the horizontal shoulder rigs, Miami Vice rigs. I was taught that you never point a weapon at anything you don't intend to shoot. I realize it's holstered. I also realize if someone is doing it in CC fashion, I don't know about it anyway. But sitting at a restaraunt and looking down the barrel of a handgun in a should rig is unnerving.

Again, that's my opinion. I am glad the legislature passed the law and extended our 2nd Amendment rights. Carry On brothers!
Funny you should mention that. I brought it up last year when I was not comfortable with a LEO in a flight suit wearing a Horizontal rig next to me in a restaurant with the muzzle pointing at me. I had a conversation with him about that, and that's another story. I will say I agree with you. I guarantee you that if I didn't like it with a LEO doing it I am dang sure gonna feel uncomfortable with a rookie LTC holder pointing at me.

There, now we can both get blasted. LOL
Carry safe and carry when and where you can. I'm just sayin'.

I will open carry on occasion when traveling. I think it is imperative that those that choose to do so seriously consider the addition situational awareness that is necessary to prevent someone from getting too close to your holstered weapon.

My prediction is that for some, they will find it an onerous task and one that can suck the joy out of most public interactions due to being hyper vigilant all the time.

For some reason I found this hilarious and sprayed coffee all over my laptop. Never thought about OC'ing in foreign countries...

Heck, AndyC's got stories that will make your hair fall out. You don't have to believe me, just take one look at AndyC! ;-)

I personally think that a healthy mixture of both will be appropriate for me, based on the situation.

An interesting point was raised regarding those shoulder rigs, and how they Hang: I would like to use one for CC, but have yet to find any ( excluding the ' tactical undershirt with built in ' ) that allow my firearm to be in a comfortable position for me without it pointing backwards. I prefer it to hang down almost vertical along my LH side without having things hanging on my belt etc. .. ah well... maybe custom made is the way forward.

As someone said earlier; It's personal preference how we d, so long as we Do.

Stay safe all and please accept my next Christmas wishes!

Good article. I may not have handled it like this. I've never been attacked with a baseball bat but "get on the ground" is not stored in my vocabulary. Hope I never find out. Police statement was spot on...

"The victim was not injured, but he did have a concealed weapons permit, which he immediately put to use, police said."

A 32-year-old man who was shopping with at least three children........
So, his OCing put himself and kids in danger.
He also stated that he thinks that his son will now follow his advice and carry his weapon concealed from now on.
Sounds like Ol' Pop has some good advise.

To use a phrase I hate, "Now, that being said," there's another career criminal off the streets.

I was elated when open carry was passed. BUT... when LE was so dead set against the Dutton/Huffines amendment I sensed trouble ahead. Somewhere along the line, they forgot we had 4th Amendment protections. LE feels they can disregard this very important Amendment. In all the town hall meetings I read about, no one was willing to discuss this. It's true that we should show our license upon request from LE. The question is, can they legally do so without reasonable suspicions?

I OC'd some 1,200 miles from Polson, MT through RMNP and onto Security, CO in September and got it out of my system. I no longer feel the need to "deliberately open carry" ( :tiphat: to TAM) no more, no sir

In my Opinion open carry is going to be like a new toy during Christmas. We will hear and see alot of it in the beginning. But as time goes on it will fade away just like all other states that have OC.
