Take my climate change test

Just a quick recommendation. If any of you want to read a fairly short book that has a good summary of the political, scientific, and economic bull about global warming, this book does pretty good. It has fairly recent data and covers the issues with a lot of different parts of the argument.

I am trying very hard to treat climate change and the atmosphere with as many irrefutable facts as I can, since this debate has become very political. I posted this test on a left leaning forum and you cannot imagine how I was flamed. My goal is only that when we discuss climate change and the atmosphere, we all are aware of this one undeniable fact about the amount of C02 is in the atmosphere.

I would love if his holiness, President Obama, and the Supreme Court would take the simple one question test.

I'm not smart enough to understand climate change:

Theory: The world is 4.5 billion years old
Theory: Drastic climate change is a normal part of the earth's cycles
Theory: The earth has been through no less than 17 ice ages during is life to date
Theory: We are currently living in an unusually temperate period in the earth's natural climate cycle expected to last about 50,000 years total
Fact: We have only had uniform standards for collecting weather data for a shade over 100 years in the supposed 4.5 billion years of earth's life
Fact: It has only been a few decades since satellite technology has propelled our weather forecasting ability to our current standards

So it seems to me that we have a few decades of Facts that we are trying to reconcile with 4.5 billion years of Theory and as a result have decided it is a Fact that the earth is warming at an alarming rate.

Nope, I'm not smart enough to understand it.

I passed, but only because I peeked a few years ago.

My fun fact about CO2 is that it isn't just nearly non-existent, it's properly known as a trace gas.

And there's more argon than CO2 in the atmosphere by a factor of 30 times or so.

Therefore climate change is real, because thunder is part of the climate, and Zeus was the god of thunder, and Zeus drove his friends crazy with the stupid argon socks he wore to his golf games, and there's more argon than CO2.

But CO2 is still dangerous, very dangerous. After all, it sublimates directly from a strong foundation of solid matter to hot air - like liberal economics, IT HAS NO LIQUIDITY!!

As a climate scientist, my speaking fees start at $75,000.

I have discovered the easiest way to understand global warming/climate change is follow the money. It all becomes clear.

There are two especially important weird facts that make life on earth pretty nice:

Ice is less dense than water so ice floats and the oceans don't pile up with ice.

Water vapor is LIGHTER than air - whew, good thing, otherwise no clouds

I agree that there may be evidence to support this as a possibility, but there was no one here to witness or document the earth going through even one, much less seventeen ice ages. Is it true? Maybe. Are scientists misinterpreting geological information? Maybe.

I hate to rain on anyone's parade here. But many of us profess to be Christians, and I would think that the Pope would be more Bible versed than most of us. There's one verse of scripture that pretty well kills their whole game plan, and we should all be familiar with it. "There is nothing new under the sun". I can't speak for anyone else but that settles it for me. Have a good one!

As others have stated it's less than 0.04% And no, I honestly didn't need to look that up.

And while you may not believe that 6.2 trillion tons of CO2 in the atmosphere is significant since you are only concerned about percent I can assure you it is. While comprising only 0.04% of the atmosphere, it accounts for over 20% of the greenhouse effect and is in fact 2nd only to water vapor in it's contribution.

Nonetheless, if you still insist that 0.04% is too small a number to give any attention or is an insignificant figure then I would like you to take my test:

Look up the term Batrachotoxin if you are not familiar with it. I would like you to tell me in percent body weight, how much Batrachotoxin would it take to kill a bull elephant. Seriously, see if you can calculate the answer. If you can't, I'll run the numbers and post it up. Let me know.

Come on guys. Did you take the test? Did you pass? Inquiring minds want to know. Now don't give out the answer here. I didn't pass when I took it, just so you know.

I already knew the answer. <.05%. My career started in cryogenics - air separation.

I am also Catholic. I will not defend Pope Francis' actions or statements. I will leave it at that.

I will defend the Church. Pope Francis is not the Church.
