As the name indicates, this is the place for gun-related political discussions. It is not open to other political topics.

I would vote for the Walker as well. It is said: "The Walker Colt was the largest and most powerful black powder repeating handgun ever made. It was created in the mid-1840s in a collaboration between Captain Samuel Hamilton Walker (1817-47) and American firearms inventor Samuel Colt (1814-62), building upon the earlier Colt Paterson design. Walker wanted a handgun that was extremely powerful at close range.
The Walker Colt was used in the Mexican-American War and on the Texas frontier."

Sounds like we may need somting like it now. :txflag:

Another vote for the Colt Walker. It was pivotal to our early history.

I realize this is a forum directly related to handguns, but I still think a Big Fifty '74 Sharps, like the one used by Billy Dixon at Adobe Walls (2nd battle) merits strong consideration.

However, if it was to be a handgun, I can't argue with a Walker Colt - almost bought one (Uberti reproduction) a few months ago.

I'd go with the Paterson, seeing as how the Texas Rangers popularized these first Colts.

from a historical perspective, I would have to vote for the Colt Walker. If I remember correctly, the order from the Texas Rangers, and success they had, helped Colt become one of the most revered firearms makers in the history of the country.

Love these choices. Any one of them would be perfect.

When I think of Texas and Gun in the same sentence, only the USN 14"/45 Mk 1 (or possibly Mk 12) guns come to mind. USS Texas carried the Mk 1 from her construction until 1944 when they were replaced with Mk 12 versions. Not exactly man portable, but they put steel on target in support of our troops from Normandy & North Africa all the way to Okinawa. :txflag:

Glock - any model

Shouldn't we have a gun that is as reliable as a Texan?

if reliability was a concern, and I were in charge, the Armadillo would be the state bird of Texas :biggrinjester:
