Adjusting the Trigger Pull on a Ruger American Rifle
I have a new Ruger American Rifle (Gen II) in 6.5 Creedmoor and the trigger pull (as it came from the factory) is about 4 1/4 lbs. I have tried three times to adjust it to a lighter pull and followed Savage's recommendations to turn the adjustment screw no more than 1/2 turn each time and it has ...

Grips for a J-Frame That Do Not Rub Against Speedloaders
I just bought a new S&W Model 642-2 and find that using either an HKS Speedloader or a Safariland Comp I Speedloader that the grips rub against the speedloader and prevent, or at least make difficult, getting all the cartridges into the cylinder. Does anybody know of replacement grips that will not ...

Re: Defensible Loads in Court Cases involving Self-Defense
Military use of FMJ is to comply with the Geneva Convention requirement for non-expanding ammunition. It is known for deep penetration.
In self-defense I want a bullet that will hit the target, stop it, and not pass through with enough energy to do serious harm elsewhere. That's usually a JHP ...

Re: Defensible Loads in Court Cases involving Self-Defense
I've read a lot lately about the use of hollow points and FMJs being hard to defend in court because the prosecuting attorney will describe HPs as "cop-killers" and FMJs as being designed for use by the military and shouldn't be used by civilians for self-defense.
So, what kind of load could be ...

Most Effective self-defense ammo from a .38 Special snub nose revolver
Haven't been keeping up with load development in .38 Spl for the last few years, especially loads developed for self-defense from a snub nose revolvers. Can body point me in the right direction for a round that is effective without too much recoil. I just bought a S&W 642 and need to start shooting ...

Rifling Twist Rate of a Savage Model 110 in .223 Remington
I just bought a new Savage Model 110 Predator in .223 Remington, but the owner's manual doesn't specify the rifling twist rate. I know that Savage makes some rifles with a 1:9 rate and some with 1:7, but I would like to know what the rate in my rifle is.
Thanks for your help,

Re: Coriolis Effect - What Distance Does It Start At?
Thank you, sir, appreciate it. So it's not really gonna make a difference to me, since I'll never shoot that far. I've never shot a modern centerfire rifle past about 200 yards, but I did take one shot at a metallic bison silhouette at 400 yards with the 40-65 Winchester cartridge at a black powder ...

Do you measure the rotation vector with a framis facilitator or a widget inhibitor--I understand it makes a difference ...(LOL)
Here is the formula:
The Coriolis force has a very simple mathematical form, ∝ 2Ω × V , where Ω is the rotation vector and V is the velocity observed from the rotating ...

Coriolis Effect - What Distance Does It Start At?
I've read many times of the Coriolis Effect having an effect (pun intended) at 1000 yards or more, but at what distance does it start to affect the bullet's path? 300 yards? 500 yards? 750 yards?

Re: Which is easier to Maintain, a Mini-14 or an AR15
Some discussion on twist rate:
Pairing Barrel Twist Rates with Bullet Weights for .223 and 5.56 NATO
Basically for a given caliber if you want to shoot more accurately at distance you want a heavy bullet. For 70- to 77-grain bullets you want a 1-in-7 twist rate barrel. Again this is primarily ...

Re: Which is easier to Maintain, a Mini-14 or an AR15
There are a lot of reasons why the AR-15 is really popular right now.
I've seen a Delta Force combat veteran say that if he had a choice between any pistol, shotgun, or rifle in the world for self defense he would choose an AR-15.
I know people that like the Mini-14, but in the end the AR-15 is ...
