Adjusting the Trigger Pull on a Ruger American Rifle

Post by Crash »

I have a new Ruger American Rifle (Gen II) in 6.5 Creedmoor and the trigger pull (as it came from the factory) is about 4 1/4 lbs. I have tried three times to adjust it to a lighter pull and followed Savage's recommendations to turn the adjustment screw no more than 1/2 turn each time and it has come down to only about 3 3/4 lbs. I hesitate to back the screw out any further, fearing I will foul up the trigger function. By comparison, my Savage 110 in .223 Remington has a pull weight of 2.6 lbs as it came from the factory--very satisfactory for my tastes. Does anybody know of a good replacement trigger I can buy and good a gunsmith in the Fredericksburg area who can install it for me?

Thanks for any information and recommendations.
