I am looking for a good place in Houston to take the CHL class. Any thoughts?

Houston is kinda big, so you have lots of choices depending upon where you are and depending on when you want to take it (days, weekend, night). But good starting point recommendation might be with Charles, the owner/moderator of this forum.

Glockster is right. Ton of options in this area. How soon do you want to take it?

I'm also in The Woodlands. I took mine at One Day CHL, because I liked the instructor, Greg Smith (greg@onedaychl.com), and he offered weekday classes. He's doing his classes at Shiloh Shooting Range (12703 Shiloh Church Road) just off of FM1960 near Willowbrook Mall. I especially loved that he prefers to keep class size small and there were five in class counting me.

I need to find one in SE Houston/South Houston/Pasadena for a granddaughter turning 21.

See if Charles is holding a class soon in Pearland. Would be the best class she could get IMO!

Over the years, I've taken 3 classes by various CHL instructors and Charles Cotton is THE BEST!

Yep, I honestly cannot understand why anyone in the Friendswood area would go to anyone but Charles. I send everybody that asks me about CHL classes to him.

If we still needed classes to renew I'd probably drive down to take one of Mr. Cotton's. Just from hearing everyone talk about them.

I took mine at Top Gun yesterday and really enjoyed it. I am not sure if this was the reason, but we shot first to wake up (8:00AM) and then I felt fully engaged in the class and it did not seem long as the CHL class time is often referred to. There were some good questions and the instructor (Jake) did not act as if any question were a stupid question.

I recommend Top Gun Houston for CHL classes and shooting as it was a very nice and clean range.

Ditto on Top Gun and Instructor Jake. I drove from Fulshear to take my CHL course on 12/5 and had a great class. We had a range safety brief on arrival followed by qualification. Jake kept the academics interesting and everyone in the 28-person class passed the written exam. Recommended facility/instructor.

I took my LTC course with Greg Smith at the Shiloh Shooting range east of Willowbrook Mall in February, 2016. Greg is a wonderful instructor providing an interesting and well presented course. The class was small - there were six of us and we all passed. I am a novice with handguns and Greg was very patient with me. My wife is planning on taking the course with Greg sometime in the future. He can be reached at http://onedaychl.com/.
