I probably am simply overlooking it but I cannot seem to find a definition of what constitutes a "school". The obvious is obvious however where do daycare "learning" facilities, church run Pre-K type facilities, etc fall?
If a church has a legitimate school as an intregral part of the facilities am I prohibited from carrying there on Sunday even though the premises are not posted 30.06?
Definition of "School"

I once had a sergeant whose answer to a question was, frequently,
"If you have to ask, don't do it." He advised that was a concept that would keep us out of a lot of trouble.
If you have to ask if a place is a school, you already know that there is some likelihood that your run some level of risk if you carry there.
The question each of has to ask on an unspecified area of the law is whether or not a jury would agree with our assumption. In grey areas of the law, it is, eventually, the jury who will decide if you made a good decision.
With this in mind, each of us has ot ask ourselves about the risk/reward aspects of our decision.
No one here will be able to make that decision for you. Carrying a firearm is, by its nature, an exercise in good judgement and being responsible for our own actions...and dealing with the consequenses of those actions.
As an example, last night my wife and I went out for a couple of hours together to a local establishment for some oysters and beer. It is not a 51% place...I checked the license. I carried TO the place but not into it, because I planned to drink. I locked my pistol in my truck tool box. I left it locked up until I got home.
As it turned out I only had one beer over the course of about 90 minutes. At 250 pounds, there is no way I even approached intoxication. So why did I lock up my pistol? It just seemed that FOR ME, the risk/reward balance fell on that side of the scale. Others, I am sure, would have chosen differently. In slightly altered circumstances, I might have chosen differently.
The same process holds for your decision regarding the "school". There is not a lot of case law regarding this question because CHL'ers are so darn law abiding.
I apologize for going on so long with so little specific advice to offer. As of now, it is just not a clear cut case.

That sergeant was a smart man. I need to use that on my kids!CWOOD wrote:I once had a sergeant whose answer to a question was, frequently,

But I'm sure my kids won't head the advice every time.
Just like us. There are sometimes we are unsure but we have to make a decision. Many times the duration I'm in a place will sway my decision. Long time in someplace I'm not too sure I should carry would make me put up my gun. Otherwise I carry.
There will always be prayer in schools as long as there are tests.
