Oldgringo wrote:The Marine Corps hymn: "...to the shores of Tripoli...". President Jefferson sent the U.S. Marines to stop the muslim pirates along the Barbary Coast some 200 years ago. Today's muslim acts of murder and mayhem are nothing new. It just may be be, but this infidel considers the destruction of several building and the murder of some 3,000 civilians on 9/11/01 to be evil. The televised cheers of muslim supporters of the 9/11 attacks were evil. The list of bombings and murder of civilians goes on and on and is as evil as evil gets.
No, today's savagery and barbaric murders are not the result of US involvement in the Middle East. Today's savagery, murder and mayhem by muslims began some 600 years after the birth of Christ. Look it up.
Yes look it up, there was not much war in the first 27 yrs to conquer the whole old world. Blood bath really started at the days of crusaders.

Actually if you will look it up, it started a couple of hundred± years before that with Muslims invading Europe and converting people by the sword. The crusades was a reaction to the previous invasion of Europe.
Islam, from its very beginning, has never been a "religion of peace" . Considering its tenants of "Convert or Die", it doesn't make it to the level of religion. It is and always has been power by terrorism.
I won't be wronged, I won't be insulted, and I won't be laid a hand on.
I don't do those things to other people and I require the same of them.

Religion is just their excuse to justify their evil.
If it was just a religion that would be an entirely different debate. It's not....it's a system of government and one that is antithetical to our Constitutional Republic in particular and Western values in general.

Their goal is a Islamic Theocracy. Government and religion are one and the same.
Ignored in news coverage of the Paris massacre is the single most pertinent piece of background: A 2014 opinion poll found that ISIS had an approval rating in France (at 16%) almost as high as President Francois Holland (at 18%). In the 18-to-24-year-old demographic, ISIS’ support jumped to 27%. Muslims comprise about a tenth of France’s population, so the results imply that ISIS had the support of the overwhelming majority of French Muslims (and especially Muslim youth), as well as the endorsement of a large part of the non-Muslim Left.

Looks to me the Muslim didn't need any influence from Christians or the United States to start fighting one another. While not an extensive history or dissertation of Islam, this may shed some light to those of us not very familiar with Islam.

FWIW, there is a History Channel documentary, "INSIDE ISLAM", that is available from NetFlix that praises early Islamic culture and also speaks to the attacks upon and conquest of non-muslims prior to and after the crusades.
Thanks, oldgringo. I'll check that out. I'm working to try and get a better understanding.

And of course, everything the History Channel broadcasts is the truth.

It's definitely a challenge to find unbiased information on Islam.

IIRC, the documentary was pretty straight forward but then again, I wasn't there so, who knows?
At least two terror suspects were killed, including a woman wearing a suicide vest who blew herself up, and as many as seven others were arrested, after police stormed a suburban Paris apartment targeting the alleged mastermind of last Friday's massacre in the French capital.
