I have the same problem when I call them, they don't really give me any concrete information other than "currently in background check" which is kinda frustrating. They probably have an insane amount of applications to process, especially after all the crazy terrorist stuff going on. They really just need to hire a lot more people.

I think the DPS is swamped. On any given Sunday, when I go to the range around 4pm, I normally have the place to myself. Yesterday, I had never seen the range filled to occupancy. The range even had a wait list. The range officer that I know said that I was only the 3rd regular he had seen in the last two days. Since San Bernadino, the range had been selling guns and filling CHL classes to the point that they have booked all their classes until the April 2016.

I can imagine that King Obama's threatened edict er.. Executive Order has only increased the demand on the DPS.

I have some arrest, and so they said anytime background issues are found it prolongs the process up to 180 days.

Day 57 here. Called today and was told I was approved and plastic should be mailed out late this week, early next at the latest. I just hope they were right.
