First AR - Shot it today

Post by rtschl »

I was waffling back and forth between doing a complete build myself or mixing it up with building lower and order upper. Finally decided on buying upper and lower. I had already decided I wanted Bravo Company (BCM):
BCM Lower Receiver Group
BCM Upper 16" Mid Length (1:7 twist) with a BCM KMR Alpha 15" Handguard and BCM MOD 0 Compensator
BCM Ambidextrous Charging Handle
BCM Bolt Carrier Group (MPI) Auto

I do not have optics yet, but have put Magpul MBUS backup sights on it. I got to put 20 rounds through it today to sight it in. I chose to sight it in for 50 yards. I love the keymod handguard. It is very light weight.

Last fall I thought about just doing a quick entry level build, but I'm glad I waited and went with BCM. I wanted my AR to be in the upper-middle value and quality. I plan on changing the safety to ambidextrous since I shoot rifles left handed as I am left eye dominant.

Can't go wrong with BCM. They're a reputable outfit and they sell quality products.

Very nice!

If you shoot left handed, consider adding an ambi mag release. Being able to drop an empty mag with your trigger finger while your off hand is reaching for a fresh one is a great time-saver.

Nice choice. I'm waiting on fedex to bring my new 14.5" BCM upper now. I'm almost as excited about the freebies they throw in as I am the upper! "rlol"
