Pawn Star arrested for gun and drug charges

Chumlee was arrested for gun and drug charges, it did not elaborate on the gun charge. A search warrant was issued because of a sexual assault charge by a woman. He was not arrested on that charge.

The gun charge was: Prohibited Person in Possession of a Firearm

From the article: "Russell was being held pending an initial court appearance on 19 drug-possession charges and one weapon charge, according to Clark County Detention Center records. His bail was set at $62,000."

19 drug possession charges ??? Wow! How could he accumulate that many charges? Not being familiar with stuff like that, was he dealing drugs out of his house, or what?

Not trying to be snarky, but yeah, I was surprised when my wife read me the story earlier this morning. Not that I think he's a little angel or anything, but I was unaware of that side of him.

:iagree: I dont get how he can get 19 drug charges at once. You figure he would get with intent to distribute whether it was 19 seperate large or small amounts of drugs.

I wonder if he tries to low-ball his drug supplier down to half the price like they do on the show. :biggrinjester:

Let me get a buddy in here to determine if these are real drugs or fake.

Seriously though, I read in the OP where the gun charge was "Prohibited person in possession of a firearm". Has he been previously convicted of a felony? I've heard that him and Corey run with the OMC crowd.

My limited understanding of Nevada law says that there are several classes of persons besides felons that fall into the "Prohibited person in possession of a firearm" in Nevada. One of those classes is "drug users and addicts". The way the statute reads is that a person may not own or possess a firearm if he is an "unlawful user of, or addicted to, any controlled substance." This means that if a person is arrested while in possession of both drugs and a gun, he could be charged under this statute. This charge is a category B felony under Nevada law. Since he had both the drugs (19 counts) and the firearm, I am thinking this is what happened.

I am assuming that his place of employment is an FFL since they are a pawn shop. I am thinking that ATF might have something to say about his continued employment if he is convicted of the charges as felonies.....

I know in the show they talk about only buying pre-1899 guns.
Does this still mean they are an FFL if they only buy/sell guns made prior to 1899?

I saw an episode where they had a shoot off at the range. Chum was using an AR. I wonder if it was his or the shops.
