DPS SITE
In response to the increased volume of applications, DPS has increased staffing strength (hiring additional personnel and initiating an overtime project involving multiple shifts, seven days a week) and resources to help ensure compliance with the statutory processing time frames for original and renewal applications.
By statute, DPS has up to 60 days to issue an original LTC, and 45 days to issue a renewal license. However, it is imperative that applicants understand that these time periods are calculated from the time a fully-completed application AND supporting documents are received by the department.

RSD is open for 7a-7p for customer service, RIGHT?
So why does the recording already say CLOSED at 1848 and yesterday I was on hold for MORE THAN an hour, starting at 1751?
Grrr...

Their phone system stops taking new incoming calls after 6:45pm CST. If you or anyone is over 60 days, you should simply contact your local Rep's office or Governor's office. Otherwise, your wasting your time calling.
Re: DPS SITE
Contacting the local Rep is a great way to get a status update, but nothing much more...

Yeah I already did that. I got a canned response from DPS worker as a result of my State Rep's Chief of Staff and Governor's emails.infoman wrote:Their phone system stops taking new incoming calls after 6:45pm CST. Re: DPS SITE
My dad and I were at 90+ days before we got anything really moving for us (all in December 28th)
I emailed the Govenor's office (don't call because you will just get a canned response about back-logged apps) I received a phone call from DPS that my license would be printed Monday, plastic in hand today
My dad actually called the DPS director's office, was transferred to someone who walked his app to the supervisors office and supposedly his is being printed so hopefully Lord willing his will be here next week.
90+ days was a long wait and no telling how much longer it would have been had we not been proactive and took other measures than just waiting.
I encourage you all who are past 80 days to shoot an email out, it can't hurt

Re: DPS SITE

What Tech said (congrats btw). I started calling and bugging them at about day 65 (I went through my state rep) but it got me assigned to a RSD supervisor (who gave me her number), 20 days later.... Plastic in hand (today also). Not have help speed up my app through, but it made me feel better and I had a pretty good idea where I was in the process.
