1/9/2016 - Completed the course, mailed in the forms.
I figure by at least 1/14 or so DPS had it all.
March 2 - got an email from the outfit I did the course at. DPS said the instructor for the written part was not certified at the time.
Luckily there were two instructors for the range part, so we only had to repeat the written part of the course.
Yes, another 4 hours, which was done on March 13th. Sent in the form electronically March 14th early.
Managed to reach RSD on the phone, and I should be into the background check about this time of the month now. ( Middle of May )
So I figure it could be early June before I get the plastic. Making it 6 months since I did it all the first time.
And this is through no fault of my own. What a deal huh ?

The toughest part of getting the license is the wait. I called RSD once a week then I started logging in to their website twice a week or more. 66 days later I got an email saying how many people had applied and the workload for RSD was heavy. One week after that letter I got my card. 73 days. Check the website periodically and when you start seeing dates to renew and update info your card will be sent a few day afterwards. Good luck.

That wait is made worse by the six weeks or so that got "lost", thanks to the situation that I found myself in.
In total there were around 100 - 120 people this tripped up, as the period of time the instructor was not certified covered
4 weeks. There were 30 to 35 people a week going through this course during that time frame, which was only a
once a week course on Saturdays.

Your beef should be with that instructor who didn't take care of his/her own business & made sure they were current when they gave the class. I would've asked the expired instructor for a refund of the class.

Ironically, the plastic came in the mail a couple of hours after I posted that last Saturday.
5 months or so, but at least it's a done deal now, regardless of the set back.
