On the subject of shooting too much and habits...
My wife and I had a baby a little over a month ago and are still getting used to the routine. Last night was my night to tend to him if he woke, and he decided to at around 2 and then we both went back to sleep @ 4:30 or so. So I was a little tired at 6:30 as I realize I'm 15 minutes behind my normal get-to-work routine. Maybe wishful thinking it was the weekend (can't carry at work
) but I'm running around the place, getting dressed, and strap my holster on when my wife asks, "Where do you think you're going today?".
Ooooops.
Any day of shooting is better than a day at the office...2 more hours to go...

I was playing a shooting game in Chucky Cheeses the other day. I was taking my finger off the trigger when I didn't have a target and going to the retention ready between scenes. I'm pretty sure that some of the folks watching me were looking at my hands instead of the screen. They've probably never seen anyone NOT put their finger on the trigger when they held the gun.Diode wrote:Venus Pax wrote:Don't feel bad, seamus. I guess some of us have formed a few habits.New way to spot gun people ...hand the something with a trigger and watch their finger..... hahahahahaha! That's funny VP
Oh, my 10 year old and I beat all three levels!

It's true. A few weeks ago, my company had a "Paintball Day", and shortly after we were all issued our gear, a co-worker (who I'd never discussed guns with before) quietly commented to me that it was obvious who wasn't used to handling firearms....They had their fingers wrapped around the triggers of their paintball guns.Diode wrote:Venus Pax wrote:Don't feel bad, seamus. So, you may laugh, but it works, and I've seen it in action!

I was the "safety officer" at the local paintball club when I was at SFASU, and I could almost always tell who owned real guns by the way they handled the club's rentals.
I own a Makita .375 and a Craftsman .50...does that make me a terrorist?
It could, after all, go straight through a passenger jet/armored car

I used to work at two different paintball fields when I was in school in San Antonio, and it was always funny to watch the gun nuts try to translate real-world shooting into paintball. I always appreciated the safety with which they handled the guns. At the same time though they were the one's most apt to forget that paintballs don't perform like bullets. Too bad both of these fields are now closed, they were great places and great folks.
Success always occurs in private, and failure in full view.
We went to Dave and Buster's this weekend.GlockenHammer wrote:Diode wrote:I was playing a shooting game in Chucky Cheeses the other day. They have two games that are pretty fun, "Time Crisis 3" and "Ghost Squad".
Time Crisis has a nice pistol and Ghost Squad is a small carbine.
I am in proper form and go at 100% speed on both games and get a small crowd especially on Ghost Squad.
On the latter, one guy asked if he could play with me. I said sure.
I was engaging all targets before he could engage even one.
Hm. I wonder if they make an IDPA or IPSC game for the Wii...
