San Diego: One Police Officer Dead, One in Surgery

Developing; not many details yet. The San Diego Union-Tribune reports that police said the shooting occurred around 23:00 Thursday, Pacific Time. At 02:34 Friday SDPD Tweeted: "We have one suspect in custody. We are still searching the area for other possible suspects."

San Diego PD just Tweeted: "@ChiefZimmerman [SDPD chief Shelley Zimmerman] just left the hospital where our second Officer has just come out of surgery. He is expected to survive!"

The deceased officer evidently took multiple shots to the torso.
