Scout Optics.
I finally installed a scope on my Ruger GSR. I used the See-Thru rings to mount Leupold FXII28-28 a 2.5X Intermediate Eye Relief mounted ahead of the receiver. It sighted in easily and quickly. I was concerned about the elevated height of the see throughs, but for now it seems to work at 50 and 100 yard distances, hope to check it out at 200 yards some day if I can find a range. The extended eyerelief makes it more natural for me to keep both eyes open.

How's your cheek weld? If it's consistent, even when you're in a hurry, you're good to go. But if you have to hunt for the reticle, you might need to try a lower mount.
To try a forward mounted scope on my 788 carbine, I modified a Redfield FRONTier base and 2X scope combination. It put the small scope a little higher than I'd like, but the centerline was about where it would be with a larger-lensed scope. It was good for quick shots, and reasonable for more deliberate fire. The setup had a quick-release feature, and had a small open rear sight on the base.
Hmmm ... might have to dig that rig up and give it another shot ...

The sooner I get behind, the more time I have to catch up.

The cheek weld is not so good. I will eventually change out the mounts and live with the quick release. So far I have found that the high center off the bore is no big deal, but I've only shot at 50 and 100 yards.
I'm pretty pleased with the Forward mount of the scout concept and Luepold scope. I am just reluctant to give up the iron sites. I just hope that poping the scope on and off doesn't mess up the zero too much.
