To tell you the truth I haven't been swimming. The Annoyed Man wrote:Like when you're swimming?Soap wrote:You never have enough ammo. Words to live by.
The Annoyed Man wrote:They did, and that was certainly their right to do so, but they were foolish and purely lucky. Think about the risks...... they were completely surrounded with no exit strategy — an island in a veritable sea of criminal insanity. If their defenses had crumbled, they were goners. That crowd would have chewed them up and spit them out in seconds flat. I understand the desire to defend what's yours and to drive off the goblins, but unless they had a real castle with a moat and drawbridge, and they did not, they would have been better off to get out of dodge early on. That's what insurance is for.Pawpaw wrote:Some Korean business owners had a pretty effective solution during the LA riots. The Annoyed Man wrote:It came to that in America in 1992: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1992_Los_Angeles_riots.RoyGBiv wrote:Hard to believe it's come to this. I'm telling you guys.....after what I saw there, I determined that some people are just plain savages, and that I will do WHATEVER IT TAKES to not be a victim of their actions. And that's not a racial statement, that's a humanity statement - because I'm sure you could find this kind of behavior almost anywhere, regardless of race or ethnicity. It's just that here, right now, in this country, it happens to be primarily black Americans who are rioting.
I was not in but I was near the thick of that riot, and I'm telling you that what I experienced scared me for good. There is no material thing that is worth defending against 10,000-15,000 angry people with murder on their minds. Against 5 or 10, sure. But against the equivalent of an infantry division? No thanks. I'll bug out and call the insurance company in the morning.
So now we know what you won't do for a Klondike Bar.The Annoyed Man wrote:There is no material thing that is worth defending against 10,000-15,000 angry people with murder on their minds.
I'm not allowed Klondike Bars on my diet.KD5NRH wrote:So now we know what you won't do for a Klondike Bar.The Annoyed Man wrote:There is no material thing that is worth defending against 10,000-15,000 angry people with murder on their minds.

Mostly I agree, but I wouldn't want to count on there not being incoming fire........and incoming fire would dictate haste, pedestrians or not.MechAg94 wrote:I heard someone comment that even a small car can push through a mob of people. If you are threatened, but don't want to run people down, you can also slip the car into 1st gear and move forward at a steady pace until you are clear of the mob.
IMO, these people are like a pack of dogs. They are brave in their group and will run down anyone who shows fear and doesn't fight back. I don't think they will stand up to gun fire.
My bigger concern is being caught in the street on foot. I would try keep my back to a wall and move away from the mob as best I can. I don't think these people would stand up to gun fire, but the concern would be letting them get too close to you before you make the decision that they are a threat.
Good choice. This one just makes them angry.der Teufel wrote:http://s104.photobucket.com/user/DarkFi ... 9.jpg.html
