5% population 25% of world's prison population

Post by philip964 »

"I believe we need end-to-end reform in our criminal justice system, not half measures but full measures, with real follow-through. In America, everyone should be respected by the law and have respect for the law. That starts with being honest. Being unafraid to face the facts. Face the fact that black men are far more likely to be stopped, searched by police, charged with crimes and sentenced to longer prison terms than white men for doing the same thing. We need to fix a system where too many black parents are taken from their kids and imprisoned for minor offenses. We need to make sure our police officers are trained in de-escalating tense situations. We need to dismantle the so-called school-to-prison pipeline, and instead invest in education from early childhood through high school into higher education. And yes we have got to fight for common sense reforms to stop the epidemic of gun violence in our communities." —Hillary

The whole "Blacks are given harsher penalties for the same crime" business was a fun time with a liberal professor in a couple of CJ electives at TCU. He gave us that clap trap, and I asked him about how much a prior record plays into this. He was blown away, he had never thought about it.

You take a black guy in his 20's who has a couple of priors and a white guy who has never had anything more than a speeding ticket, and hit them with the same assault charge. Of course the black guy will get a longer sentence for "the same crime"... he has priors. Not because he is black, but because his community has a more lax attitude about following the law, and chances are he has been popped before for something.

I'd like to hear what Felonia McPantsuit thinks black people are put in prison for years for what she calls a "minor offense". I'd like to hear what is "minor" in her world. I guess when compared to abandoning 4 Americans to be murdered through your inaction, everything seems minor.

How about we teach kids to follow the law? They talk about "Bad schools" and "Bad neighborhoods"... what is it that makes them bad? Are the houses bad? Is the land itself bad? Are the school rooms or text books bad? Are white folks from other parts of town going in those areas and causing trouble? How about asian folks? Are the cops making folks commit crimes? What makes those places bad? It is bad people that make them bad. Not everyone, but obviously enough bad people to make them bad.

There is nothing going on in "the black community" that cannot be adequately handled by following principles of common sense, following the law, and work ethic as opposed to government dependence. I'm not saying that everyone in those areas don't do this... but it is less than in the other parts of town for sure, that is what makes the bad part of town bad, remember.

Liberals all look at the problem from the ending point rather than the, starting point. When someone is looking down the wrong end of a police officer's gun, that is not the starting point, it is where it ends.
Absentee fathers (and often times mothers) creates a repetitive cycle, with no positive role models, but addressing those issues, gets one labeled racist or elitist. However, there are too many success stories from those who have risen above these issues, to say that the problem is insurmountable. The problem lies within a culture that sees no problem with single parents raising children, while relying on government handouts for sustenance. Also, those being looked up to for dropping out of school, and making a living through criminal activity, creates no basis for success. This is not a racial issue, since there are people from all races who have generational cycles of these issues.
Liberals want these thing to continue to justify their agenda of forcing more government assistance to the disenfranchised.

Opportunities for success, have not diminished, but there is a pervasive attitude that is is unattainable, so there is a "give up" before starting mind set. JMHO

I'll get off my soapbox box now.

If that is what you want to hear, what she said makes a lot of sense!

The problem is that blacks don't want to think through the problem and admit the reality of the problem. If blacks make up a greater portion of the prison system the system must be skewed against blacks, in their eyes! And liberals! They feel the laws of our land do not apply to them because they were slaves 200 years ago and they deserve a break for that reason. For instance Eric Gardner was just selling loosies and not really hurting anyone. But he had a rap sheet as long as my arm and was violating the law then didn't cooperate when confronted by the PoPo. So in his eyes he was just trying to make somewhat of a living. One of the biggest is with the black attitudes they are virtually unemployable because if their attire, appearance and attitudes. They feel we should accept their getto appearance and hire them anyways and when we don't it is discrimination.

If you wont to listen to some of the problems associated with the black community listen to Tommy Sotomayer, he tells it like it is and is not very well liked by his own community for his outspoken attitude.

This is an old video that point out the problems with the black community. 15 children 8 fathers and pregnant!!!

When 13% of the population commits more than 51% of the voilent crime in the county it makes sense why so many black Americans are in prison.

When 70% of black babies are born out of wedlock without a father figure its no wonder why they turn to gangs. The thug lifestyle being so glamorized doesn't help either. Being told that they are the victim and we the people owe them something makes them dependent on the government for survival.
