This won't be used much for a carry gun. But I might carry it eventually once in a while. I mostly want it too take to the range and make holes in paper.

The Beretta is prettier it just has a nicer finish to me. It doesn't have the rails so it looks a little more streamlined. It might be easier to find a holster for it. I think its made in America, but I'm not sure. I don't have anything against Brazilians but I can't think of anything they have done for us lately. Maybe Berreta has a better name, and the P92 might be worth more in 10 or 20 years.

The Taurus is real good deal for the money. A hundred bucks still buys a lot of 9MM WB. The safety is built on the body rather than the slide, looks like it could actually be more reliable. Maybe the rails could be handy down the road, but I never got all excited about bolting flashlights on my guns. Well maybe a lazer sight. I've heard Taurus buffs claim that this version is actually an enhanced version of the P92. It does come with a 17 round Mag How is it better? Taraus has a life time warentee, I have heard that beretta has good service but I don't know what their warentee is.

Please any opinions, experiances or suggestions are appreciated.

go to the dealer and hold both the taurus and the beretta in your hands then make a decision. I was at this same impasse before and decided on the beretta because of the feel of it in my hand. That is worth the extra 100 dollars, trust me.

POicked it up today!

Post by Liberty »

I made up my mind and picked it up today. I'd been leaning toward the Beretta anyway. I know it might sound silly to some folks, but I couldn't get myself to buy a foriegn gun. I don't make judgements on those who do, but for me it just wasn't right. The Taurus is a fine gun, but I think that the fine finish and the tradition of the Beretta also made my decision easier. Calvinbr PMed me with a tip about a place in the Golden triangle. That was selling them for $399 with three Mags. I was planning on picking one up at Academy for $478. The one at Academy came with 1 Mag but a plastic case. They can keep their plastic case and I'll take the 3 mags. This is a "Police Special", I don't think Beretta wanted us mere mortals to have this package.
I drove down to Nederland and back, cleaned her up and it sure is pretty. Loaded up all 3 mags with ammo and I'm hoping to take it down to the range tomorrow

Thanks to the group for the tips and feedback about both guns. and Calvinbr you're great thanks for the lead. That guy has a fine little gunshop in his place.
