Woman killed confronting burglars

The article says that three folks went outside to confront two car burglars. As the burglars were driving away they fired from the car and struck the female. One shot, one strike. Very sad.

But a good reminder that we all need to make sure that we are making the choices we make consciously. And not in the heat of the moment. This is also why I love all of our "what if" discussions. So that we can think ahead of time about what our property is worth, what stands we are willing to take, what scenarios constitute 911 calls rather than confrontations, etc.

Such sad story. It is a tough situation where our instinct tells us to confront the criminals, however, we need to fight our instinct and call 911 instead. Property is not worth risking one's life over it, especially there is insurance to fall back on.

I don't know that I would have gone outside. However if I have enough time to go outside to confront someone, there is a reason I keep my rifle and plate carrier next to each other.

It all depends TAM. I got mine at http://infidelbodyarmor.com/ With plate carrier and two of their level 4 ESAPI plates was a little over $500. I went there and paid cash and got a discount. If you want to go that route, call them and setup a time. They don't have an actual storefront. If you check the site regularly or sign up for the email list, they have specials on armor bundles. Get a plate carrier, 2 x level 3 plates, and then random other stuff (ifak, glasses, pouches). Usually discount is about what the extra stuff would cost. Bundles start around $375, and you can upgrade stuff for more if you want (nicer carrier, higher rated armor, etc).
