I clean my guns a lot. If I cut up old clothes to make all of the patches I use, I'd be running around naked in a few months.
I don't think any of you wants that.

I wouldn't need to. If y'all saw me running around naked, you would voluntarily throw money at me to go buy clothes. "rlol"

Same here, I used to cut my own but I got tired of cutting patches.

Like others, I save old t-shirts for exactly that reason. They work great. The only problem is that, lately, I've been less than fastidious about gun cleaning, so the t-shirts are piling up.

Of late, the gun cleaning patches I bought and to my chagrin (once home) I discovered were made of paper.

Completely, utterly useless.

Back to old t-shirts, sheets, etc.

Paper? What brand? Need to stay clear of those.

I use the non linting patches from Walmart, good thing I can afford to spend few bucks on those. I am very heavy user of good gun Rem Oil and Rem X-40 and testing all their competitors.

Do you think people that make their own patches can't afford to buy them? What about my paper plate targets with a post it note bullseye?

He never said anything about people not being able to afford them, don't read too much into it. He's probably like me, I have limited time so I'd rather buy patches then spend time cutting up rags or material.

My wife gave me :bigmouth :bigmouth that reloading 9mm is waste of time and money. In fact it is true, but it is hopeless case once you start reloading. I can afford to buy multiple thousands 9mm rd each months.
Using T-shirt is nothing wrong as I do it myself to wipe off excess oil or use some of it with a pick to clean those hard to reach trigger areas.

Speaking of paper, unscented John Wayne type toilet paper wrapped tightly around a proper Jag has cleaned my rifled bores very well.

It must be wrapped perpendicular to the jag, and wrapped tight -

RossA,

Sorry, I threw them away nor recall where I bought them or the the brand.

They were pre-cut into rectangles.

If you buy any pre-cut patches hold them up the light before buying. I do recall they were semi-transparent, sorta...
