Over diapers?

It sounds like the shoplifters weren't exactly saints, and the Walmart employee was an idiot for trying to stop a diaper thief, but dying over a diaper theft? No words.

Ya, annoyed man. I thought that at first until I read the whole story. These sre some really bad guys. The vehicle they were driving was solen in a car jacking and there was about a dozen guys, bad hombres. This could have turned REALLY BAD REALLY FAST.

These guys were not stealing dipers for their kids, this sounds like gang activity. The walmart employee was very wrong, and he is was lucky that chl holder was there. I am willing to bet that the REAL story will Take a day or two come out.

Dang, I wonder how many diapers we are talking about here? It says they were loading the diapers in the car when approached. And 3 accomplices, with a stolen car. Maybe they just made a quick stop to get/steal diapers before the next misdeed? I sure agree with you, can't believe the employee went out to the vehicle. What could possibly go wrong? Yikes.
Just some guy's opinion.

Oh, I get it that they were bad hombres, especially when I read the whole article. I'm not so much criticizing the shooter, as much as I'm asking how stupid is it to get killed over some diapers? Obviously, there is a moral argument for coming to the aid of the employee.

And speaking of stupid......

If there was anyone at stupid at all besides the thieves themselves, it was the Walmart employee for getting himself into a pickle at 4:1 odds over the stolen diapers, for crying out loud. Call the cops, write down what you saw and who said what, and let them do their jobs. Yeah, those dudes are thieves, but there was one of him, and 4 of them. Heck, even if he was store a security officer, getting into a 4 against 1 scuffle is a losing proposition. He's lucky to be alive.

The probability of a weapon is pretty high in this case. First consider that the car was not just stolen, but car jacked. A car jacking is by nature a violent crime and often a weapon is used in the commission of that crime. Second, the CHL holder thought the suspect was reaching for a weapon. The weapon may or may not have been a firearm but it may have been. When the suspects fled they may have taken the weapon with them so even if one isn't recovered at the scene it doesn't mean one or more were not present.

Now for the spin version (Anti-gun bias):
A Florida teen was gunned down while leaving Walmart with diapers. The victim's car crashed while trying to escape his attacker forcing the victim to flee on foot to a nearby gas station where officials found him dead. The shooter, who could likely face no charges, was legally carrying his firearm under Florida's make my day law.

You forgot to mention that the shooter, whose gun was registered, was carrying a high-caliber assault pistol.

The shooter whose gun was unregistered, was carrying a high-caliber, high capacity assault pistol.

Believe it or not, there is a significant black market for home goods. Diapers are one of the leading items stolen and sold on the black market.

For the crooks and thugs, it's just a way of life. For the store employee, not worth risking death over.

Unfortunately the media would rather say a person was gunned down for stealing diaper rather than saying the probable truth that a licensed carry person came to the aid of an employee.
There is still to little information and I reserve my final comment until such time there is adequate information, although, the liberal media will probably not report such.

Some months back couple or three guys walked into local Walmart, grabbed a garbage can, swept $700+ worth of shampoo off the shelf, and walked out again.

Nobody got shot but have not heard of them getting caught either. Local WM seems to make no effort to stop thieves.
