Meh. After the recall few years back I lost my appetite for XD line. I will stick to the big three for my personal carry...Sig, Glock or H&K.

I rather like their grip safeties, so them removing that for a manual safety - unless there is a version without it, think I'll pass on this one. I've been meaning to pick up a XD Mod 2 - while the 'grip zone' being written on the grip is really effing retarded, I really like the feel of it.

OK I'm a bit interested....
ETA:
Wonder if they'll have a full size version of this coming in the future? I personally like carrying decocked, no safety, with one in the chamber sometimes. But my 809 doesn't conceal well.
Well, before I lost it in that boating accident.

Re: Springfield XDE?
I'm a bit interested as well as Springfield builds good stuff. I had an xds 45 that I let go that I shouldn't have. I think if this pistol were the same size as the xds I would have trouble resisting, but according to springfield's site the xde is about 1/2" taller in the grip and a bit heavy. I love my p938 and my p30sk, I really don't need the xde as it is larger/heavier than my little sig and has less capacity than my p30sk. That is my personal situation but I'm quite sure this pistol will be a perfect fit for many. I have always been impressed by the xd line quality.

But if it doesn't say "grip zone" how do you know where you are supposed to put your hand?surferdaddy wrote:Omg...it says "grip zone."

Well there's that long skinny part that looks like it would be easy to grab. My hands are kinda big, though so I usually just grab the shorter thicker part instead. Now if they would just come out with a gun that told me where to put the bullets. Maybe a "bullet zone" engraving?TexasJohnBoy wrote:This always confuses me on all my other firearms.Soccerdad1995 wrote:But if it doesn't say "grip zone" how do you know where you are supposed to put your hand?surferdaddy wrote:Omg...it says "grip zone."

Re: Springfield XDE?
After seeing the emails from Springfield this morning, I thought that this looks like it could be carried cocked and locked for all SA firing, not necessarily DA/SA.
So I called Springfield and asked for customer service. I asked a lady who answered if it could truly be carried 1911 style, and used SA only.
She went into a dissertation between the differences between DA and SA, what each one meant, etc. I told her that I understand the difference, I just wanted to know if this gun could be carried for SA only work. Since it is advertised as DA/SA, it seems like it is maybe only set up for DA first round capability.
We were totally on different pages. I didn't want or need for her to explain to me things I already knew, and she didn't understand that I had a simple question.
Maybe I should have asked to speak with a gunsmith there.

Re: Springfield XDE?
The safety does double duty as a decocker, There is no grip safety. Carrying this with the safety off, and the hammer cocked would be risky IMHO.RossA wrote:After seeing the emails from Springfield this morning, I thought that this looks like it could be carried cocked and locked for all SA firing, not necessarily DA/SA.
