Houston Skeetogether

Post by Scott B. »

Okay, I'm jealous of the Dallas folks.

We need to get the Houston contingent together for some skeet (or trap). Preferably not on a Saturday morning when I'm teaching an LTC or handgun class, but I'd be willing to skip one to shoot.

On the NW side, Hotwells actually has some nice skeet fields, but no trap.

American is out for the foreseeable future.

I've never shot at the Greater Houston Gun Club, Carter's Country, others. Creekwood Shooting Sports looks great, but is in Conroe. Blackwood up there has 2 functional but definitely not pretty skeet fields, one that doubles for trap.

What say you Houston area shotgun guys & gals? :txflag:

I'm certainly interested. I haven't shot skeet or trap since last living in Texas so I'm quite rusty but eager to get back out there.

That's the spirit. It'll come back quick.

Maybe a few more shooters will pop up once they get dried out.

I'm in I shoot skeet at hotwells all the time. Be advised if you're not there by 830 and standing all in a group of 5 the line goes fast and they don't allow hold a space in line for late people.
So if you want to group that's the best way, I get there at 815 am

I've attended the DFW area shooting meetups several times in the past (my oldest daughter lives in the DFW area and we visit often) I hope you pull this off; I tried several l years ago, but the interest was never there. I'd be willing to come even though Hotwells is a good distance from me and if everyone promises not to laugh at my skeet skills. It is a lot closer than DFW.
I'll stay tuned.

It'd be a haul for me as well, but I'd be interested as long as we can avoid the 4th Saturday. That's the monthly IDPA match at PSC.

Only if the clay pigeons are attacking you.

Though I have shot skeet once at a friend's place with an 18" Mossberg. The results were less than spectacular, even for me.

Let's get an idea of what day of the week would work best and see what we put together.

They do have lights on the fields. If an evening time would work that might open up some days of the week for folks other than a weekend.
