Been thinking about a home defense shotgun for a few years and was focused on either a Remington 870 or a Mossberg 590. So there I was in the local gun store yesterday and they had a few new and used tactical-type (as in not a bird gun) shotguns. One was a used 870 (nah), and one was a new Mossy 590. Immediate like. Good check weld, I love the safety position on the top rear of the receiver (hated the 870 safety) and it just felt right.
This guy (model 50772) has a nine shot capacity with storage for two more shells in the synthetic stock. I think it's Parkerized, one online store claims that, one store just says matte finish. It has rails so I'm going to pick up a light for it. I had no idea there were so many aftermarket parts available for the 500 series Mossy, just like the Ruger 10/22. Already have my eye on a Magpul stock for it

.
Weather is lousy today but when it gets better, I'll play with it.
