Online Advantage?

Post by RicRogue »

Is there an advantage to doing the packet online? I did the online application, then the CHL course. Is the processing time the same? Any noticable difference?

Only advantages I have seen are you get your PIN so that you can check your progress or lack thereof faster and your form is nice and typewritten. Disadvantages would be that you turn loose of your application fee sooner and you have to wait until you get your completed form from Austin before you can take the class. Overall processing times are really not different.

Given that the website does not give much in the way of tracking data I doubt when it comes time to renew I'll even go to it.

I'd just get the form at the class, no worries about lost mail etc. (at least on receiving end, sending to them I'd do the signature thing)

Advantages are that your form is pre-filled, so no messy handwriting issues and the PIN (mrbug mentioned these already) and the fact that you can pay with a credit or debit card. (Convenience is an advantage to me. )

Processing time seems to be roughly the same, in my limited experience.

It took the exact same amount of time for me to get my CHL (I preregistered) as other people in my class that didn't register online. I like a neat form, so I would still do it online.
