Hey I need some help trying to locate the adapter to convert and OLD Redding press (#7 ??) from a screwtop ram to a now-standard slide on shell holder. I called Redding and they said they sold the last one last week. I need either another adapter (Vega Tool used to make something like I need) or the old screw on shell holders for 38/357 and either 45acp or 223.
Thanks for any help!

Need help finding Redding adapter or shell holders

What's the thread pitch ?
Maybe a pic of one of the others you have ?
I've seen the female version (I think), post a pic and I'll make a call or two and see if one of my buds can help out. Some of those old coots have the same loading press that came off the Ark ;)
Maybe Redding can send you a dwg or dimensions and you could cut the female and weld a modern shell holder 'into' it, then clean it up nice and purty.
Seems easy enough to do, dimensions would be good ;)

I will see if I can get a pic of it. I actually gave the press to a friend of mine locally, to get him started for the least expense possible, but I fear I have saddled him with a boat anchor if I cannot help him locate the shell holder. He says the 38/357 one is most important to him. So that is what I hope to scare up first.
A pic of the press, a pic of the end of the ram and a pic of the shell holder(s) you have (if any) would be great.
I asked a couple of buds about the old threaded rams last night.
All but one that owned that style press have either replaced the ram with a new one (about $20 which suprised me) or traded the press off for a turret or progressive of some sort.
CH Tool and Die http://www.ch4d.com makes several ram adapters for Herters, Dunbar, Hollywood, Lyman All American (early versions circa 1960 or so) and a few of the old Pacific presses. This being said, they can probably turn out one for the Redding with little effort.
I would really give some thought to replacing the ram. CH makes replacement rams for their machines, but apparently rams are all at least similar in some respect in the older presses. Two of my buds have used the CH rams to replace rams in old presses with a lot of miles on them. One Lyman and one Pacific. The CH rams fit like a glove and work great. They offer different replacement rams, so I would call and talk with a tech about ordering the correct one if you decide to go that route.
