More questions: Pocket holsters

Post by RodL »

Hope ya'll don't get tired of my questions. :???:

I have a Glock 26 and would like to read your comments on pocket holsters. I have a DeSantis Ambidextrous which works pretty well in pants with large roomy pockets. However, it does not work well with tight jeans, front or back pocket. I have seen some interesting leather holsters, and some made of leather and moulded synthetic combo.

What is your experience?

Thanks,

I have a DeSantis nemisis for a Kahr Pm9. This is a pretty small setup and works well with all pants and shorts except jeans. I wear levis 550.

I think the way this jean is designed (and probably many others) cause it not to work will w/ pocket holsters because th front pocket entry is much more vertical. Also, the jean pockets are much tighter than the pants pockets. I've given up on pocket carrying w/ my jeans.

There are those baggy jeans that may pocket well, but unfortunately they are not my style. If you don't mind thm, maybe instead of a holster search, you can do a jeans search.

We sell a lot of Galco pocket holsters, some for the Glock 26. Pocket holsters are convenient but they have their limitations. It won't do you much good sitting or driving and it's not a fast presentation.

The Glock 26/27 is really pushing the size limits for pocket carry. Most of the guns we see carried in pockets are Beretta Tomcats, Kel Tec's, Mustangs and Kahrs. I would, respectfully, suggest there are better ways to carry that gun.

j1132s,

I have a DeSantis Nemesis for my Kahr PM9 and it doesn't work very well with jeans (Wranglers) or with Dockers. I just ordered a pocket holster from Robert Mika for the Kahr and one for my S&W 642 as well. Check him out at http://www.frontiernet.net/~akim/index.html

Look up Robert mika on Google. He makes some great pocket holsters for a great price. Do a search over at THR or TFl and you'll see tons of great responses about them.

I have tried SEVERAL pocket holsters....they all fail my tests except for Mika....it is ugly, but I have never had it come out of my pocket with the gun. Mika's products are very affordable.....if you don't like it, look me up and I will buy it from you and use it as a spare.

I pocket carry my 26 when IWB is not practical....it is comfortable.

I use a Mika's for my Taurus revolver. I wear Wrangler regular fit jeans and I never have a problem with the holster coming out with the gun. I can't wear the cowboy cut jeans so I can't tell you anything about those.
