CHL obstacle?

Post by tboesche »

Ok, back in 1981, my first year in the Navy, I got arrested for DWI. Court date came and they placed me on probation and reduced it to Reckless driving. As I remember, the prosecutor told me that after the 1 year probation all record of the DWI would be dropped. Is this something that I need to list on the CHL paperwork?

Oh yeah, been clean ever since with the exception of a speeding ticket or two. I am assuming that because I hold a security clearance that there are no ghosts in my closet that I have forgotten.

The conviction itself is no problem.

If you were arrested, you are obligated to put it on the application, and IMHO you should.

Records of this kind of "ancient history" are often impossible to find, and DPS understands that.

See what you can get from the jurisdiction where you were sentenced. If you can't get anything else, get a letter saying that they have no records.

Good luck.

Go to the district clerks office for the conty which it occurred, and ask for a criminal history clearance letter. That is what they told us to have ya'll do in such as case.

Try this link http://jssi.co.shelby.tn.us/ And you must have been stationed at Millington NAS.

Twice actually. THAT time I was in school, and then several years later I came back as an instructor in the school.
Thanks for the link
