This is the number one reason that NO place of employment should ban their employees from carrying a defensive weapon. Disgruntled employees who are not right in the head can go off track at any time. I am very, very grateful that I can carry at work.A Southaven police officer and the alleged shooter – a former Walmart employee- were both injured. The officer was taken to Baptist Hospital Desoto and is expected to be okay after the bullet hit his vest. The former employee was taken to the Regional Medical Center after he was shot twice.
The two people who were killed were Walmart employees.
WREG has learned the that former employee was suspended on Monday after pulling a knife on a customer. It appears he then returned to the store on Tuesday and opened fire.

only thing is certain people work in refineries ect. That's considered a foreign trade zone so in some types of jobs it's impossible to change a law like that. As far as a most other jobs id still say carry anyway just don't get caught or you'll be in the unemployment line.
A lot of places that it is illegal to carry. However, not to many places that are exempt from the parking lot law ( refineries)
Re: Wal-Mart Shooting in Mississippi
I get it that some workplaces are forbidden. And some for valid safety reasons such as refineries. However, those same refineries have armed guards. I know a couple of armed security guards who work at a refinery. They always carry there, but the employees and contractors cannot. Double standard? IMHO, yes.
According to FBI statistics the place most likely to have an active shooter incident is at a place of business. You can find many articles that cite this fact. It was one of the primary arguments I used to get our firearms policy changed at the plant.

My point is that of all the places I go when I leave home, the place where I may be at the greatest risk is at work. I'm very sorry for those of you who can't be defensively armed at your workplace. I'm just thankful that I am no longer in that group.
