Upgrading press

Post by phddan »

Well, I got real tired of pulling the handle on my rockchucker. So I ordered a Dillion 550 yesterday. Should be in by the end of the week.

Congrats! Dillon makes great stuff and their customer srvice is excellent. Less time reloading = more time shooting. ;-)
I am scared of empty guns and keep mine loaded at all times. The family knows the guns are loaded and treats them with respect. Loaded guns cause few accidents; empty guns kill people every year. -Elmer Keith. 1961

You will like the 550. I made the decision a few years ago that these old arms only had so many pulls on the handle left in them. I got a 550 and later upgraded to the 650. Dropping a round every one pull vs every 4th pull made a big difference for me.

You'll really like your Dillon. I don't have a 550 or 650, but I do have two SDB's
The last train out of any station will not be filled with nice people.

Remember Newton and Azrak.

I wouldn't get rid of your Rockchucker. There are always uses for a good, single stage press.

If I had to part with my 550 or my Texan, the Dillon is out of here.

That's not to say it isn't a great press. But it seems like I spend more time fiddling with adjustments that I do reloading.

Don't plan on getting rid of the rockchucker. Makes for real accurate hunting rounds!
Also got an old pacific power c that I am going to use for something. Just aint figured out what yet.
Mainly getting the 550 to crank the rounds out for 45, 40, and 223 plinking. For SD and hunting I'll be using the rockchucker.
