Breaking: multiple victims. Shooter in uniform.

Situation may be contained, gunman may have shot himself.

Guns are very very heavily restricted in Hawaii.

Murder suicide by service member. Used his service weapons.

He was guarding a submarine in dry dock.

I have always heard that submarine duty is as stressful as it comes. Maybe it got to him somehow. I noticed the MSM is not as interested in this shooting since it was a service man who used his duty weapons.

Especially during dry docking. I hated drydocking. Had to crawl inside the superstructure to repair sonar hydrophones.

I can’t recall it ever making me want to shoot anyone or suck on my 45.

Maybe it was because you were in at a time when men were allowed to be men. Young "men" these days have been raised soft. Like girls. Who knows what kind of crazy indoctrination the school system put him through. And it is getting worse. They are definitely not what they use to be.

And thank you for your service. :tiphat:

He was facing a Captains Mast, and had an XOI earlier that day. Don't ask me how I know.

:iagree: I stood a lot of topside watches during my time on subs. In those days, if I recall correctly, we were given an empty .45 and one magazine with five rounds.

The shipyard was more stressful than being underway.

I know some Navy terminology, and that a Captain's Mast is the same as an Article 15 for Army and Air Force. However, I do NOT know the term "XOI". What is that?

XOI = Executive Officer Inquiry

Used before the Captain's Mast hearing. Officers will do a XOI to hear evidence and decide if the charges should be brought up. Kind of like a civilian grand jury hearing.

Okay, I understand what that is. USAF and Army, it's called an Article 32 hearing. Thank you.
