Texas v Ohio issuing time

I moved back from Ohio in July and mailed in my application in August, then had the correction

back in their hands on Sept 28th.

When I applied for my Ohio CHL, if you lived in Ohio for less than 5 years, you had to pay the extra $40 for a federal background check. The federal check takes 3 weeks.

The license is issued by the county or adjactent county that you reside in. If you have lived in Ohio for more than 5 years, the issue turn around is as little as 2 days (pro counties), they have 60 days legally and some counties take that long (but mainly in the large anti counties).

Just a little food for thought.

How long has Ohio had concealed-carry licenses?

Is it a shall-issue or discretionary state?

Shall Issue as of 2004 (i think).

I recieved mine in 2005. It is good for 5 years.

No reciprocity with Texas, so I am unarmed.

I'm thinking the states that got shall-issue more recently have fewer requirements and more streamlined procedures. Many have no training requirement, or accept other training like NRA Pistol Safety or hunter safety.

That is one of the reasons I got a non-resident Florida license. My brother lives in Ohio but they do not recognize Texas. They do recognize a n/r Florida one.
