Glenn Reynolds (Instapundit) often remarks that the court system and the police exist to protect the criminal from the populace, not the other way around. Mr. Luna a case in point.

Call it a distorted version of honor among thieves, but "short eyes" often are looked upon unfavorably by other inmates. As egregious as this crime was, perhaps, just perhaps, there will be no one to protect the criminal from the criminal once Mr. Luna is in lockup.ELB wrote: Wed Sep 02, 2020 4:10 pm Glenn Reynolds (Instapundit) often remarks that the court system and the police exist to protect the criminal from the populace, not the other way around. Teen shot to death inside his bedroom when a man with a rifle shot through the bedroom door. Family doesn’t know why they were targeted.
Unfortunate the BG’s are learning about the advantages of rifles.

Man faces capital murder in death and sexual assault of nine month old daughter. And he has a face tattoo. Disgusting adjectives and nouns can't say on forum.

The means streets of Houston brought to you today by Harris County Deputies who broke down a door at the wrong address to make an arrest warrant.
They were told it was the wrong address by the retired former police officer and his son through the closed door. But they broke it down anyway. Manhandled them and then realized their error.
Harris County is saying they will replace the door.
Maybe a check list like pilots have before breaking down a door.

An 18 year old woman has been caught. Apparently it was a group of people who fired on the house. Feud with the 15 year old son that has gone on for sometime. Mom had called the police 17 times in the past months.

Re: TX:The mean streets of Houston
This is one of your rights in Texas. If you are arrested you must be taken before a magistrate immediately (with loose definition of immediately. The magistrate reviews the case for probable cause, reads you your rights, and usually sets bond. I am surprised the judge did that because usually if it is not a hot pursuit case, the police present the probable cause and get a warrant. That would avoid this type of embarrassment.philip964 wrote: Tue Sep 15, 2020 4:16 pmNeeds to be presented to grand jury. Didn’t know judges did this.
I have never had the magistrate deny mt probable cause. I have had some cases rejected by the ADA on duty who presents the case to the magistrate, but never the judge himself deny it. With all of the layers of review normally involved (police supervisor review the case, warrant application through DA to judge, DA review the case before the judge sees it), this is a surprising turn of events.

The father of Sierra Rhodd was shot and killed around 11:00 p.m. Friday night at the home of Sierra's maternal grandparents in Cypress, just hours after a vigil was held for the slain daughter. According to the new story, "A fight broke out in the home and Mike Rhodd, Sierra's father, was shot and killed by his 74-year-old father-in-law, according to the Harris County Sheriff's Office."
Further, "After Mike Rhodd was shot, his 15-year-old son grabbed a pistol and fired it, investigators said. The teen still had the pistol in his waist band when deputies arrived and had to be tased." Evidently investigators are now working under the assumption that Sierra's death, from a shot that went through her bedroom window, was part of a vendetta against this 15-year-old.
This is all terribly tragic and just...bizarre.
