The job keeps me traveling and for the most part long term travel. I am currently in Indiana and have been since last February.
There is a different permit here that once you have the unlimited permit you may carry concealed or open. I have not witnessed a single open carry since I arrived outside of the gun range.
I am also confused about some of the laws here. If there is someone that can help I would like here from you. The state website is a bit difficult to navigate (at least for me).
The state seems to be split on whether they support concealed carry or not.

Whenever you're carrying in a reciprocal state, you abide by their rules, not those of Texas.

As was explained to me, back in the days when PDO was alive and well, Indiana issues a "License to Carry" and this license in required to carry either open or concealed. Since Texas only issues a "Concealed Handgun License", one cannot carry open in Indiana since a Texas license only allows concealed carry.
While in Indiana, one must abide by all Indiana laws regarding car carry, off-limit restrictions, etc., as you noted, but only within the limits of the kind of license one has from the reciprocal state. The same would apply if one had a non-semiautomatic or revolver only Texas license; one could only carry a revolver in Indiana. Also, if one had a Nevada license from Clark Co., with a list of carry-able firearms, one could only carry a firearm in Indiana that is listed on the Nevada license.
Now if one were in Virginia, for example, where one needs a license to carry concealed, but open carry needs no license, both would be OK with a Texas license.
