Prayers for Mrs. VolTexan

Whether the need is great or small, there is power in prayer, especially when God's people raise their voices together.

Prayers seem to be working.

She's still in the hospital, but things took a turn for the better this week

Yesterday, the doc did another CT scan and informed us that the slow, less invasive healing process wasn't working, and he felt it was time to operate. Labs and images were not conclusive enough to tell the whole story, but worse-case scenario could be some bad damage inside the abdominal cavity. He told us yesterday that he'd try to get her on the surgery schedule as early as Thursday, but then he told us later in the day that he was able to get us in the next day (today - Wednesday).

After surgery was over, he came to tell me that everything went very well. There was no injury inside the abdomen, just a buildup of infection that wouldn't drain away. He's glad he waited as long as he did to give the slow process a chance, but also glad that he went in because leaving the infection in longer would have caused more problems.

Bottom line - he found no issues inside other than the buildup of infection fluid (which he got rid of), and I'm now here spending the night with her in the Surgical ICU. It was a full laparotomy rather than a laparoscopy, so it was a pretty invasive procedure, and she's in a ton of pain. But...she's on the road to recovery now!

Thanks to everyone for all your prayers and well wishes.

And thanks to Doc Wheeler for his steady hands and decades of experience that he brought to the table today! This man definitely knows his business, and he has a calm, confident demeanor that truly put us at ease. Since the day he got attached to my wife's case, he has made a significant difference in her care and recovery.

That sounds very positive Chris. Really glad to hear it. Hopefully the pain will be short lived.

Late getting back here, but it sounds like a very positive development even if she has some healing and recovery time ahead. Prayers continue!
