Is it not correct that now that Hunter has been pardoned, that he cannot use the 5th Ammendment to refuse to answer questions about his and his family's crimes? And any lies could result in new charges for perjury...?

The pardon doesn't protect against state level prosecutions or civil actions. He can always depend on those to preserve his 5th amendment protections.

Expect a lot more pardons for those involved in the Biden family and those associated. But based on several lawyers on X (Twitter) there is one positive thing that can come of this:

Hunter (or any other person pardoned) can no longer plead the 5th on federal crimes. So if Congress or other federal investigators want to go after other possible conspirators, he cannot refuse to testify nor can he lie. If he lies under oath, he can be charged with that, as the pardon only went through December 1, 2024. He cannot be the target of an investigation, but they can now try to follow the money and indict anyone who was not pardoned.

I get that he might be able to plead on State crimes, but if the questions are narrow and federal only, he should not. But he'll never face consequences if he does.

The American people deserve to know all of the details of the alleged influence schemes.

If Biden pardons the upper echelons, this is what will happen: there will be committees set up in the House and Senate that will call all of them to testify as to what they did and how this whole surveillance apparatus, the FISA courts and everything else worked. The people would get a full understanding of the method by which all of these crimes were committed. All of these people will have to testify and they will have to tell the truth or they risk being held on the new crime of perjury for which they have not been pardoned. They can be held in contempt if they refuse to testify, just like Bannon and Navarro were, especially, because they were the ones who put Bannon and Navarro in prison for contempt of congress. All of the January 6th Committee will have to testify as to what they did to frame Trump. It will all come out, because with a pardon, especially as broad as Hunter’s, they are restrained claiming Fifth Amendment protections.

Trump power to pardon was just made a lot bigger by Joe's actions. With the upcoming other family pardons, certainly provides cover for Trump's Jan 6 pardons.
