Want to add $100 to your cost for online transferred gun purchase?
A friend and member here on the forum, who for unknown reasons has been unable to logon on for sometime, called me this morning to tell me about the transfer fee he was charged at a local gun range in Webster. We converse often about guns and purchases and he usually uses a fellow member here for FFL transfers, but that was not an option through the vendor from which he made the purchase. Only their data base FFL's were available and he chose Range USA in Webster since it was near him. There was no information as to what the dealers would charge on the vendor's list, no doubt if it was available he would have not made the choice he selected. The transfer fee, even with an LTC, was $100. They don't even offer complimentary range time, which my FFL does and they only charge $30 with an LTC. I used Texas Gun Club once with a firearm purchased on an auction and it was the closest FFL on their list to my home. They charged $50 with or without the LTC. A little high, but not unreasonable as I consider the fee Range USA charges. So just a word or warning if you want your 500 dollar gun to be $600 Range USA is your ticket!
