Contemplated getting non-resident licenses for other states due to the Gun-Free School Zones Act of 1990. Basically, if I have a state’s LTC/CCW then I am not breaking the federal law if passing within 1000 feet of a school, otherwise I am breaking the GFSZA.
Assuming East Texas residents would get LA, Arkansas, and OK licenses and West Texas residents an AZ license, perhaps CO. NM does not issue non-resident licenses.
Any information would be beneficial. Thanks.

No one has ever been charged with the GFZA law except if they have other charges. Not much worried about it besides I am too old sick my time would be in an infirmary.

Oklahoma doesn't issue non-resident permits. I used to collect non-resident permits...just for fun, not because I care about the GFZA which is unconstitutional and never enforced. My favorite one is for the District of Columbia. I am considering trying for New York City and California, which are theoretically possible.EP45 wrote: Sun Sep 07, 2025 4:11 pm Just watched the Armed Attorneys show on school carry

Looks like NM, CO, Arkansas, and as mentioned OK do not issue non-resident LTC/CCW except the military exception. AZ and Louisiana (just recently) will issue. Agree unconstitutional, but that has not stopped our government. Thanks for the info.

I got an IL because my daughter lived there. TX residents can get a non-resident IL Now she lives in NJ, and the latest SCOTUS ruling made them go to shall-issue, so I might give that a try, but a lot of hoops to jump through. Do you have those?

How many hoops did you have to jump through for non-resident in IL? My son lives there so I have to leave pistol in Missouri hotel room when I visit.oohrah wrote: Wed Sep 10, 2025 10:06 am I got an IL because my daughter lived there.
