My mom passed away
My mother finally passed away yesterday morning, around 7am California time. She was 100 years old, and would have made 101 on December 8th if she had lasted that long. I’m actually doing ok, other than it seems weird to type or speak the words "my mother has died." I’m sure I’ll grieve her loss at some point, but honestly, I’m just not feeling it right now.
We weren’t close, and we had a contentious relationship most of my life, from about age of 4 or 5 on. But still, she was my mother, and I still grudgingly loved her.
My prayer request is less about loss, and more about wisdom for what’s coming. There are some estate matters to take care of, and I have to travel to California soon to help my two younger brothers ("younger," lol, they’re 70, and 71) get her apartment vacated and her things into storage so that we can take our time figuring out what to do with all of it. There’s going to be a substantial inheritance for each of the three of us, and I need wisdom and wise guidance on how to manage it.
And then there’s the organizing a memorial gathering of her still living friends and a few relatives. At almost 101 years old, most or all of her contemporaries are gone.
Anyway, there’s a task list to be accomplished, among which, as a FPC member, is going to be finding a gun-friendly county through which to apply for my California carry license. Having that will make future visits less of a hassle.

Sorry for your loss. Prayers out for you and your family.
My mom lived to be 95. There weren't many friends/family of her generation left to attend the funeral.

So sorry for your loss. Mine passed in 2001 and I still miss her. Good luck with all that must be done. Hopefully you can find good people to advise and help you with it all.
It's fine if you disagree. I can't force you to be correct.

I'm sorry for the loss of your mother, and to hear about the strained relationship ya'll had. Families can be 'messy' sometimes.
I lost my dad in 2001, & we hadn't spoken for about 10 years (he was 49; I was 30). I had just resolved to begin the healing process, but hadn't reached out to him just yet. It was definitely a funky season, & I too wasn't sure how to feel about the situation. Luckily, my Grandparents & uncles were the ones who were able to manage his affairs, bring his ashes home to Texas, & coordinate the memorial service. I wasn't even sure at the time if I was going to take leave for the memorial, but fortunately I had an uncle that I really looked up to who encouraged me to be there. That opened up the door for later healing with the family, & my kids having a relationship with their Great-Grandparents.
My advice would be to focus on 'your heart', as that's what the Creator asks of us. We can't control anyone else's hearts (& sometimes its difficult to reign in our own). Accept the relationship as it was; honor the good memories (praying there were some...); & be there to support your two 'kid brothers' as ya'll work to sort thru the estate.

Sorry to hear about your loss, Chris. Losing a parent is difficult - I lost my dad in my 20's, but I'm blessed to still have my mom around.
Prayers for you and your family during this difficult time.

Re: My mom passed away
So sorry for your loss. My prayers are for you and your family to make the right decisions in the coming weeks. I know first hand how families can be, especially after the passing of a parent. It can be somewhat unpleasant. Keep looking forward my friend.
