I already owned three .22 LR rifles and a couple of handguns, but a few days ago, I bought my very first Ruger 10/22. I bought the Carbon Fiber model with the Magpul X-22 stock and carbon fiber-wrapped stainless steel barrel. I also bought a Silencerco Sparrow suppressor for it, my first 4473 suppressor transfer.
Out of the box, the rifle weighs just 3-1/2 lbs (56 oz). The suppressor weighs just 6-1/2 oz. The Magpul M-Lok bipod I bought weighs 11 oz. So far, we’re at 4.6 lbs. Unless I decide on an RDS, the weight of a scope and rings isn’t going to exceed another 1 to 1-1/2 pounds, so the all up weight with all accessories is going to come in between 5-1/2 to 6 lbs….not too bad for carrying around a squirrel and beer can assassin.
Here’s a pic of the base rifle.

Very nice. That will be a good rig whichever way you choose to go with optics. I started selling guns in 1966; a couple of years after the 10/22 was introduced. Back then the Glendfield 60 (later iteration became the Marlin 60) was the most popular semi-auto .22 rifle made. I sold hundreds of them. Probably no more than 20 Rugers during the same period of 5 years. I didn't buy either one back then, but have subsequently acquired 4 Model 60's, all but one used. The new one is SS. I finally bought a 10-22 about 7-8 years ago and put a Bushnell TRS25 Red Dot on it. My 60's are more accurate, but the 10/22 is fun and easier to load than the tube fed 60's. Earlier this year I bought a classic 10/22 to keep at the deer camp for "vermin extermin". I wish I'd known the suppressor laws would change. I would have bought a threaded barrel model. I have the camp gun loaded with "Quiet" .22 LR.
I have always found it interesting that the 10/22 has myriad after market accessories, stocks, barrels, triggers - you name it to modify them into almost unrecognizable form from the original and there's nothing remotely close available for the Model 60 and over 11 million were produced.
