There have been a number of criminal attacks on Greyhound buses and IIRC one case where a lunatic got control and crashed the bus. Unfortunately, no law-abiding citizens were able to intervene.

According to an acquaintance of mine, Greyhound occasionally performs a "voluntary search", where passengers have a choice of submitting to a search or not boarding the bus.

This may foil my plans of carrying a concealed firearm on my trip next week. Does anyone know how frequent these searches are, and whether the CHL card has any sway on the searcher?

Not legal according to 18 USC 922(e), the same law that makes it illegal to carry on an airliner.

From that link,
any common or contract carrier for transportation or shipment in interstate or foreign commerce
if my Greyhound trip is from Dallas to Houston, then it's neither interstate nor foreign nor commerce.

Ah, but it's long established that if it could be in interstate commerce, the law applies.

"Unfortunately, no law-abiding citizens were able to intervene"

Probably because there weren't any on the bus.

This is NOT posted in an obvious locatin, nor is it 30.06

It is located inside, to the back, by the staging area where you wait for departures.

If you get on the bus and the driver does a little welcome aboard speech and it included that guns are not allowed on the bus, then you would be in violation with concealed carry and could be prosecuted.

Try telling that to the TSA when you fly from Dallas to Houston.

Having been to the houston Greyhound bus station twice, and riding twice in my youth, I would not want to be without a weapon at a major station. Those places are slightly safer than Harris County Jail.

Would the driver have to recite the 30.06 verbatim? OR just say no guns?

just has to say "no guns" when it's verbal.

Does the driver have the authority to issue a legally-binding verbal notice? Penal Code 30.06 says, "a person receives notice if the owner of the property or someone with apparent authority to act for the owner provides notice to the person..."

Does a Greyhound driver have apparent authority to act for the owner? I am leaning toward yes.

I'm sorry, my hearing has been going lately. I didn't hear anyone say anything about "no guns"!
