Previous CHL, speeds the process?

Post by ammo two »

Just curious if you think that having a previously issued CHL from another state (MASS) would help to speed the process for my TX CHL? I had a MASS CHL that has expired since I have been living in TX, I recently applied for a TX CHL (20Dec07).... I don't think it could hurt, but would it save any time in getting my TX CHL processed?

I doubt that previously having a CHL (by whatever name) or having passed background checks helps. DPS does their own background checks for each applicant, and they have no access to the records of other states or the federal government. (DPS also has the FBI do a background check.)

From the point of view of DPS, they don't know whether your out-of-state license merely expired or you lost it because you were convicted of something.
