Waiting and still NADA

Post by manji »

I have been lurking for several months now and decided it was time to join the party. The DPS website changed to 'Application completed, license Issued' on January 5th. 2008. So I waited, waited and waited some more and nothing. I called on Tuesday and was told it mailed out on January 10th. I have been told they have 30 days to get the plastic to my mailbox. Has anyone else not received theirs and had to get a re-issue? If so, how long did it take.
Thanks,
manji

Who told you, "they have 30 days to get the plastic to my mailbox"? That really does not make sense to me. Once DPS mails the license, they have no control over it. Did you make copies of your paperwork? If so, double check the address you listed. 15 days is plenty of time for the USPS to get it to you. Perhaps DPS meant they ike to wait 30 days after mailing before the reissue.

Regardless, bummer.

I had a lady tell me last week that she was told DPS has 60 days from the "day they start processing it!" This is the same old cycle. When we get close to a legislative session, turnaround times get quite short. Once the session is over, things get back to normal.

Mine switched from processing application to application completed - license issued / certificate active on Tuesday of this week, and my license arrived yesterday. So it was 2 days total transit time. I would guess the letter was lost / stolen. Where do you live? I live in the D/FW metroplex.

Txinvestigator, my mistake. They did tell me to give it 30 days to show up. If I have still not received it by that point they will re-issue another license. The fact of the matter is they will not do anything before the 30 day period from when they say it was mailed. Yes I made copies of the paperwork and have also verified my address with DPS on the phone and they do have the correct mailing information.

Codejockey, I am located in Houston.

I guess I will wait patiently in hopes that maybe it will still show up in the mailbox.

Thanks for the reply's

I had a paycheck go from Trophy Club to Wylie (1 hour drive) via Little Rock once. It took so long, there was a stop payment put on it, and a new check was issued and received in the mail before I received the first one. :mad5

The USPS doesn't even guarantee delivery of standard mail.

They will not try to track most letters or packets that are not sent priority/etc....for at least 21 days after the mailing date.
Unfortunately, I know this from experience.

I was told by a USPS employee, that the Mail Recovery Center in Atlanta, GA. receives about 8 million "lost" letters, packages, etc... a year. If there is enough address (and parts of the item) left to deliver, then supposedly they will try to do so. Yeah... right.

I have also read somewhere that DPS waits 30 days before they consider it lost and then re-issue it
10/23/07 - Completed package mailed to DPS
10/26/07 - Package arrives at DPS
11/29/07 - Recieved PIN via usps
01/09/08 - Still waiting on "investigative report" for background check.
02/05/08 - Issued/Active - 101 days total

Waited on the mail Friday and Saturday and guess what.....Still nada! At this point I guess I'm just waiting on my 30 days to be up so I can report it 'lost in the mail' and
get another license re-issued. I would still like to hear from someone who has had a similar experience. I would like to know what the time frame is to get a replacement.
On a side note, I did receive my Minotaur MTAC holster from Comp-Tac. I am very pleased with the construction and comfort of this holster. Also their customer service is outstanding. FYI.

Re: Waiting and still NADA **(Plastic in Hand)**

Post by manji »

After work, driving home I noticed a bright light shining down from the heavens illuminating my mailbox and lo and behold, in it was the coveted
plastic from the DPS Gods. I'm not sure what took so long? When I called to check the status last week I was told it mailed on 1.10.08. Envelope was postmarked
1.26.08 but hey......who's counting!
Anyway, plastic in hand and very happy I don't have to go through the 'lost in the mail, I need another one issued' game.
Y'all be safe out there.
