Third renewal
Can anybody describe exactly what material should be submitted for renewal when the refresher course/ certificate is not needed. DPS does not return telephone calls or e-mail on the subject and there is no useful information on the DPS/CHL site.
Re: Third renewal
Passport photo in photograph holder, fingerprint card, and affidavits.
Re: Third renewal
A chl holder got through to them after several days of telephoning:
Talked to DPS today finally. After inquiring about refresher course, they requested my CHLand said I would not need course. Just return application without certificate. As for fingerprints from L-1 they said L-1 would provide a print out to be sent with application.
Bottom line that I could determine is if you don't know about exemption they will not notify you and prints will not be electronic transferred
so far, we have not been about to uncover any evidence that the FAST/ L! fingerprinting business actually exists.

The process
Eligibility to skip a renewal class begins at the third renewal (does not count the initial cetification class). So, as of right now, the only eligible people are those who got licensed very soon after the law went into effect.
To learn if he is eligible the applicant should:
1 Call DPS at 512 424 2934 (or related extension) or;
email athe e-address listed on the dps/chl site with the following information
A. Name on license,
B. Full CHL number
C. DL number
B. Telephone number
Call back or answered e-mail should take place within 24 hours with a simple "yes" or "no" answer. If e-mail takes longer, it might be that the spam filter accidentally deleted it and another e-mail may be necessary.
2 complete application and affidavits as usual submit with fee.
