Sights on Taurus 1911

Post by chewy555 »

I have a Taurus 1911 but I dont like the sights that it came with. Something about the stright 8 that I just dont like. Has anyone else changed the sights on theirs. I was thinking about maybe night sights but not sure if anyone makes them for the Taurus. Are there any that anyone knows about for the Taurus? Thanks for the info.

Heinie makes two styles of night sights for the PT1911.

The #415 is the night sight version of the straight eights that you don't like.

#416 if a 3-dot system.

You might try this vendor. However at this time it appears that they are out of stock. Best of luck on your quest.

Good question, and good answers! Glad someone asked this, as I will be picking up a Taurus 1911 later this month. Don't know if I like or don't like the straight 8 sights yet -- I hesitated on ordering the pistol because of this, and because I have been told the Heinie-compatible dovetail cut is different from others. Nice to know there is a traditional set up available if I need it.

Thanks for the heads up on the sights.

I have never changed sights before, I wonder if I should get them put on by a smith or not. I dont want to mess them up. Has anyone changed the Taurus sights? Is it easy?

I wish I could help, but I've never installed mine.

Thanks for the link! I have been looking for night sights for my Millenium Pro (I, too, hate the straight-eights) and this is the first place I have seen them.
