Still waiting. Now. Not so much!

Plastic in hand. Dec 9 07 Took CHL class-10Apr08 USPS dropped off my card. 130 days.

Oh well, i am pretty pumped. Now for the Wally Walk. I took a "mini" at Tom Thumb after i checked the mail. Feels good.
I am outta here. Enjoy your stay. Great group in here.

MCK

New member here and i have been suffering quietly until a few weeks ago...
Me and a buddy took our class the same day and he has his permit already.. i didnt know that i had to "prove" my status as active duty and so i was WAITING WAITING and then the update (i didnt even check the website cuz i was to worried about getting in the "check every day" loop) INCOMPLETE PACKAGE-DETAILED LETTER SENT. Ugh...turns out i needed to include a copy of my ID and my orders...soooo, i sent in that stuff in on Wed the 27th and hopefully i wont be here much longer!

PS..does anyone know if the "magic counter" resets after they receive my updated info? as in, i waited such and such number of days to get told i was incomplete now i have to wait another 60 or so days...or just to update my info?

When I called and questioned what additional info I needed, I also asked that question. "Simone" stated that I did go to back of line, but letter I received did not sound as if that was the case. Only time will tell.......................5 days since they received additional info requested.

Great. back of the line. that is so rediculous. Understandable, but rediculous. especially if "they" were almost done with my package.

Here is an example of the ineffieciency in Austin. I emailed DPS on March 5th since my status still remained "Application incomplete - missing information - detailed letter has been sent" even though I had received the unsigned web form, signed and returned via registered mail same day which they signed for on Feb. 27th. I questioned when my status would be updated to "Processing Application". Their response received yesterday "You were missing the web application form. When you receive and send in, the status will cange".

By the way, I copied their response and pasted here. As you can see, spelling nor timeliness is a prerequisite for a job at the DPS!

Update: I responded to their email advising when I returned and when they signed receipt and here is their response (17 minutes after I responded!), "It takes 10-14 days to receive mail from the outside and get it updated please allow time for processing." That's a real eye opener! Right, boys & girls? Kinda makes the USPS seem like NASA compared to DPS when it comes to processing mail.

If their response is correct, then my status should be updated by ......yesterday! Anybody starting to see a pattern here? Need to adjust that poll in General ‹ General Texas CHL Discussion "How long for DPS to process your CHL" to include 80-90 days and >90 days!!!

OK, maybe the squeeky wheel does get the grease. Checked this morning and status updated to "Processing Application"......finally. :woohoo

DPS will have to update my status to "Application Completed - license issued or certificate active" by March 30th to beat the 90 day window. Just to let ya'll know, there is absolutely nothing in my history that would slow my background check. It just pure bureaucratical efficiency that has delayed the process this long.

i am well over 100 days now. Took the class on Dec 8. Filled out online crud same day. recieved my packet probably a week later. mailed and started the clock. Early feb, guy who took the class with me got license in hand and i got "incomplete package-detailed letter sent"...FFW to 27Feb, updated packet received at DPS and here i sit. It would be one thing if i was somebody with a questionable past or "issues" on my record. But i am an Air Force cop with a clearance (already gone thru the background check at the FBI level) and i am standing by to stand by.

lame.

You know when I wrote only time will tell, I didn't know that comment would be so prophetic. I'm starting to think that my 60 day timeline started when they got that signed page 4, even though they had already had my app for 8 weeks. If that's the case, then my status won't change to "Application Completed - license issued or certificate active" till maybe April 27th? :cryin :cryin :cryin
