I just called the CHL office and the phone number has been "disconnected or no longer in service!!!" I guess they just got tired of us calling and asking why they can't get the job done in the time the law allows them!
It's now been over 10 weeks since I mailed off my application. I just don't understand why it would take that long to process! I've only had one residence in the past five years, the same job the last five years, I've never even had a traffic ticket (knock on wood)....how could it take long to do a background check on that?!?!
Anyway, there's my "rant" for the day. Thanks for listening :)

Re: We killed the phone line
Don't feel bad, guys. We sent our certifications as Amateur radio RACES communication operators, in case of emergency situations such as Rita, the first week in October, 2007. HAND DELIVERED! We finally got them a week ago, April 1. 2008. the reason we were told was there were forest fires...In Austin! I called my Federal representative and he "convinced" them that they needed to get off their duff and do it! The reason for this, is because w/o certification, no one would be allowed to work communication operators under the state agencies. We now have almost 30 of us in the Upper Lake Livingston Wireless Association certified and will be able to establish communicate with the outside world in case of situations. This will enable us to work around the clock in shifts and in other centers so designated by the Emergency Coordinator.
